End of the Year Football Awards (Predictions)

With College Football Coming to a close, I thought I would give my two cents on some of the things I thought were amazing or disappointing.

First award is going to be College Football Coach of the Year....the runner up's are:

Joe Paterno Penn St.- Took the Nittany Lions to a near perfect season and are one win away from securing a BCS birth and a Big 10 title, all at the young age of 89.

Nick Saban Alabama- Brought the "Tide" back from a 6-6 season last year, to the #1 spot in the country and has his team in control of their own National Championship destiny.

Pat Fitzgerald Northwestern: Missed a bowl last year after finishing 6-6 in his first season as the youngest head coach in NCAA history after the passing of Randy Walker and has brought his team to 1 win away from a 9 win season.

And the winner is.....

Mike Leech Texas Tech- While the Red Raiders were anything but a project this year, Leech took his team from a second tier Big-12 team to a National Title contender, a win against Oklahoma will finish off a historic undefeated season and a shot at the Big-12 and possibly National Championship. Not to mention he is probably the sweetest dude EVER!!!!!!

With this award we go from the best of the best to.............not so hot, it is the award for shittiest performance as a head coach.....and the runner up's are:

Charlie Weis Notre Dame: I am a long time fan of this historic program and while the team will bounce back greatly from last year and are still sort of rebuilding you can look at 2-3 games and just shake your head.

Ty Willingham Washington: No Wins= YOU SUCK!!!!!! Yet, people are still reaming Notre Dame for firing this guy, let's also remember he was the second choice that year.

Mark Mangino Kansas: You take a team from the Orange Bowl to the Texas Bowl overnight, mind you Kansas probably would not have done much better if they would have played the same schedule last year, but an ass whopping by the Bo-Fense puts you in this category.

Just because I hate that son-of-a-bitch!!! Yes, he is
fatter than the orange.

And the winner for shittiest performance by a head coach is.....Ron Zook Illinois. You might remember last year when "The Zooker" was given a Rose Bowl bid and was trounced by the USC Trojans last year and was his team was only going to get better. With a loss this weekend the Illinois "No Mascots" will miss a bowl game completely, but ya never know with a weak core of Big-10 teams the Meineke Car Care Bowl with tradition in mind might let them slide......O ya P.S. Thanks for the advice to watch out for Arrelious Benn everyone!!!!

Now we go to the award for Most Memorable Moment.....and the runner up's are:

Charlie Weis getting nailed on the sideline. Not only painful to see happen, but even more painful to watch him struggle walking along the sidelines.

Jake Locker being penalized for excesive celebration after scoring a TD. This was the most vital example of the new rule, Locker scores a TD to tie the game, throws the ball in the air, gets 15 yards, PAT gets blocked, Washington loses in OT.....terrible.

"Crab's" TD catch/interview. The Harrell to Crabtree play to upset #1 Texas is one of the greatest/biggest plays I have ever seen. And just the excitement from the players and fans, one of those things you just wish you could have been a fly on the wall. But it doesn't take the cake....

The winner for Most Memorable Moment is......Oregon St. beating USC. This will beat out the Texas Tech moment because this game could mean losing USC in the Rose Bowl. If Oregon St. wins their remaining 2 games against Oregon and Arizona, they will win the Pac-10 and gain a BCS birth into the Rose Bowl.
