And They're Off.....Baseball Free Agency has Begun

With another incredible MLB season in the bag, it is nice to get a good.......3 days off to relax and wind down a little bit after the long and grueling season. With so many hot trade topics and with what could be one of the most talent-rich (or at least talked about) free agency periods EVER!!! Because of my deep love for besbol and my love for the readers, I am going to go provide you with some information that may help you track the players your team may make a move for.

What seems to be the hottest position in this free agent market seems to be outfielders. This may be the the hottest the outfield has been since the release of "Your Love" in 1985. Well the center piece of the outfield free agent market is the ever so bizzare Manny Ramirez. The stock on Manny is through the roof, and I don't have to tell you why......dude is sick!!!!! Goofy as shit.....but will hit ya over 30 bombs, or close to, every year and drive in around 100 runs. But don't think it's the best deal ever, many is approaching the end of his career and is wanting uber money, he already made a public display of affection at the 20 mill a year offer the Dodgers made by saying "I will begin to accept serious financial offers on Friday." Manny is ranked 3rd on ESPN's free agent list: other hot prospects include Adam Dunn(7th), Milton Bradley (9th) and Pat Burrell (11th).

The Outfield thinks teams should show
Manny "Their Love"

The second biggest position seems to grow with importance every year and that is starting pitching, in the past few years we have seen teams throw alot of money at guys who may only get them 12-13 wins. The BIG name (and man) on this list of free agent SP, is former A.L. Cy Young winner, C.C. Sabathia. Sabathia started off last year in Cleveland with a sub-par start, but once he was traded to Milwaukee the guy was as untouchable as a 12 year old in Chris Hanson's care. After getting traded to Milwaukee, in 17 games Sabathia posted an 11-2 record with a 1.62 ERA......that's pretty much straight up ballin'. Sabathia is rated as the 2nd best Free Agent prospect and will more than likely get an EPIC contract offer. Other notables include: AJ Burnett (4), Derek Lowe (5) and Ryan "Cum-Dump" Dempster (8).

O NO IT'S CHRIS HANSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shortstop is possibly one of the deepest positions in this year's free agent market, with such players as NLDS Super Star Rafael Furcal, Orlando Cabrera, Edgar Renteria and the always infamous NOMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! While none of these guys jump off the page at ya, they have all had solid careers and so have others that grace the market. Look for alot of teams to pursue these guys with heavy intent.

So when was the first time you realized
you hated Jimmy Fallon?

While other positions are not as deep as these there are very many notable free agents that play other positions. 1st Basemen Mark Teixera is the top ranked free agent prospect, Closer Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez set the all time saves record last year and is the 17th ranked free agent. K-Rod has seen a major slip in his stock recently due to his aggressive and seemingly psychotic throwing style and of course 1998 potential HOF pitcher of the year Kerry Wood made his free agent status official yesterday. The talent is deep at every position so don't worry if your team doesn't end up with a Man-Ram or K-Rod, there are always more quality players out there.....so here is to hoping Jim Edmonds comes back to the STL (HAHAHAHAHA), and may your team have a very succesful free agency period.
